Cybersecurity Incident Update: September 15, 2023

Pelmorex Corp. is working tirelessly to restore service to Canadians after experiencing a malicious cyber attack limited to The Weather Network and MétéoMédia weather data systems. We have brought in leading cyber experts to investigate and recover in a secure manner. Many of our services are back to normal operations and Canadians can expect to see a steady restoration of services and weather information over the coming days. These systems are safe to use.

The push notifications feature on our mobile app, allowing our users to be notified of weather alerts, is currently unavailable. As a temporary substitute measure, we encourage users to visit Storm Centre if they are experiencing active weather in their area, where they can find alerts similar to those pushed on their mobile devices. Storm Centre will only be activated if there is active weather in your area.

Operations of the Alert Ready system, of which Pelmorex Corp. is the technical vendor, have not been impacted and continue to work as intended. The Alert Ready technical infrastructure operates separately from our other services and, as such, authorized government officials have been able to issue alerts as required.

Keeping Canadians informed is our utmost priority. We will continue to provide further updates on our progress and are committed to providing up-to-date weather information that Canadians have come to know and expect of us.

We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences this disruption has caused Canadians.
