Clima Brazil is LIVE.

Pelmorex Weather Networks has opened its latest international frontier, with the expansion of its Latin American arm, Clima, into Brazil in February.

Brazil is a giant among Latin American nations with an increasingly-connected population of more than 200 million, the most populous in the Americas after the United States. Clima has already been launched in hispanic markets in the U.S., along with Mexico and Argentina, with plans later this summer for Peru, Colombia and Chile.

Clima is an offshoot of El Tiempo, the market leader in weather in Spain. Acquired by Pelmorex in 2012, El Tiempo is leveraging the lessons learned in its dominance of the Spanish market

“Based on all the technology we have developed at El Tiempo, as part of our international expansion plan, we thought of using the tech and platform we’ve created for el tiempo and to implement it for all the hispanic and Brazilian territories in Latin America,” El Tiempo Managing Director Carlos Astorqui says.

Astorqui says Clima’s expansion is proceeding with caution, and the plan for the next fiscal year is to invest in communications and partnerships to eventually become the leader in weather media targeted to Spanish and Portuguese-speakers in the region.
